The latest retelling of the Arthurian Legend and the newest addition to Cinema Arthuriana (yes, this is a thing) opens in the next week (May 12 in the USA, May 18 in Oz) and I’m curious to see what the film is actually like. Based on the various trailers it looks okay, but trailers always pull the best bits of a film into a shortened version designed for you to be lured in enough to purchase a ticket. I know far too much about the legend and have seen a fair few Arthurian movies to believe what I see in the trailer. I don’t expect this to be the cinematic retelling of the legend that will put all others to shame, and neither should you. There is yet to be a film that does that, and there are over a thousand Arthurian films (I have a list).

Have a look at the trailer and tell me what you think. I’ll talk more about my opinions soon.
