New Email
I have a new email address! I’ve been meaning to do this and add this here for a while. Since it’s friday, my uni work is boring, I’m tired and it’s the end of the day setting up a new email address and telling you all about it seemed like a much better idea. So, if you want to get in touch with me you can get me at: mitenaex [at] gmail [dot] com. Please, no spam mail, don’t try…

Where I Live
I’m not going to show you all of where I live, but I wanted to show you the bush I back onto. It’s ancient, irrational and odd. I say odd, because there are concrete foundations out there and an old quarry with burnt out car parts. The bush here bears little resemblance to forests. It always feels ancient and as if it speaks a different language. The trees where I am are largely Marri (also known as Red Gum). There’s…

Les Misérable (2012), Film, Theatre and Me.
I don’t often go the cinema as it’s a distance away, so when I do get the chance to see a recent release, it’s at home. Last night I watched Les Misérable (2012) and I was disappointed with it. I better back up and explain why. I have a background in film and theatre. In primary school we put on musicals at the end of each year and I later studied at WAAPA and film at ECU. I’ve worked backstage, I’ve directed,…

Knitting Wants
There are always designs, both of my own dreaming and others, that I want to knit *now*. I have a few cardigans in my Ravelry queue, recently finishing knitting Acer Cardigan by Amy Christoffers and I’m planning on casting on another one of hers, Stonecutters Cardigan, soon. Well, as soon as I finish the scarf that’s OTN. In the meantime, I thought I’d show you some of the designs I want to knit. There’s Thyone by Tori Gurbisz. I actually…

Oops
I didn’t meant to leave it this long between posts, really I didn’t. I’ve been caught up with my PhD and knitting. While I meant to post, I always remembered while I was in the middle of something else, or when it was really late at night when I was half asleep. So, what have I been up to? I’ve done a lot of knitting. And a stack of other knits that I don’t have photos of because,…

Hello everyone!
Wasn’t it January just a few minutes ago? I have been meaning to blog for weeks about movies, knitting, what I’m reading, but it seems January has slipped away from me without me blogging at all. I’ve been knitting more than I should, working on a test knit for the wonderful Andrea Black, aka Lacuna on Ravelry. I haven’t been reading nearly enough. I have been watching far too many trashy movies, but enjoying watching old classics from many years…

Spider Season
It’s spider season at my place and that means the house gets invaded by a lot of spiders, most of them are either wolf or huntsmen. This, I understand. It’s nice in my house. Better than outside in the heat and the bonus is the inside of the house resembles a tree. If you think I’m joking about this, I’m not. Sometimes it feels like I live inside a tree with all the wood in this place, but I digress….

Well? Isn’t that what the tree is for?
Last year was Riley’s first Christmas, so of course once the tree was inside and decorated, this happened: His reaction, upon seeing the tree in the house and decorated was to run straight at it and climb up, perch himself on the branches and try to get the decorations off. The look he had for week was *best present ever!* The result of this, is that the tree still has cat shaped holes in the branches, despite any attempt to…

General Update and where I’ve been, or haven’t been for the past week
My apologies for the lack of posting. I meant to, but I’ve been unwell. Again. I’m not going to go into what it was that has kept me not being constructive for the last week, mainly because I don’t want to dwell on what I had for the third time this year. Instead, I’m trying to finish this chapter of my dissertation before my brain gives up on anything academic for the year, which it is liable to do considering…

One of those days …
I feel like I’m fighting a losing battle today. I’m trying to get this next section of my dissertation written but my brain refuses to string two coherent paragraphs together ( I do know why, I didn’t get enough sleep). It will write one, then another, but they have little correlation to each other except that one goes at the beginning and the other at the end. It isn’t any help at all. And then, when I think I might just…
