Part two: the story; King Arthur Legend of the Sword

If you don’t know much about the Arthurian Legend, or have not encountered it before, the usual Arthurian story (where Arthur is the protagonist) has Arthur growing up an orphan and not knowing he’s the rightful king. Through some means (depending on which version you’re reading, there are a lot) Arthur gains Excalibur (pulling it from a stone is a contemporary addition to the legend), a symbol of his birthright, and has to fight whomever is king, overthrow them and…

So, I’ve been absent…oops?

I’ve been quite a bit absent from here for quite a while. It wasn’t intended, really. I meant to post, I was just neck deep in Ph.D and then in Ph.D recovery once it was done. Which really has involved sleeping, a lot, knitting and reading. And more sleeping.   I’m finally back to writing up some of the knitting patterns I’ve been collecting. See, while I’ve been busy with my Ph.D I have still been designing, I just haven’t…

A year on

It’s been a year, well over a year, since I last blogged. I didn’t forget about my blog, rather I was in my final Ph.D year and it was more a matter of needing to keep going with it and get it done. My Ph.D has been handed in for examination, and there is now nothing I can do until it’s been examined and I hear back, which won’t be for several months yet. In the meantime I’ve been recovering…

Photos, Editing, editing and more editing. Ugh. Also knitting

Do you like the new photo of leaves at the top of the front page? I do. I took it a few weeks ago of a lipstick maple with a macro lens. I don’t do this often enough and I love how it came out. All I did to the image was to crop it. No filter, no tampering of any sort. My favourite kind of photography. I’m back into uni work/editing mode and I’m editing two different books at…

Knitting Stats 2013

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while, but got sidetracked with knitting, reading and doing nothing while I have had the chance. But that’s over and I have to get back to PhD work, even though I’d really love to take another week off. I can’t. My PhD is due this year and that means getting back into editing, so I’m catching up with stuff. Including this blog, which I’ve sadly neglected over the last year while I’ve…

Thursday

It’s thursday afternoon and I’ve given up trying to get much of anything done as my shoulder has decided to start aching and it’s making typing annoying as I keep having to stop and start, resting it so it doesn’t get worse. I know why it’s doing it, but it’s annoying. I want to finish shredding this dissertation. Anyway, it’s thursday, first blog of the week (whoops) and I really don’t have much to tell you. I’ve been shredding this…

Oops

I didn’t meant to leave it this long between posts, really I didn’t. I’ve been caught up with my PhD and knitting. While I meant to post, I always remembered while I was in the middle of something else, or when it was really late at night when I was half asleep. So, what have I been up to? I’ve done a lot of knitting.     And a stack of other knits that I don’t have photos of because,…

Hello everyone!

Wasn’t it January just a few minutes ago? I have been meaning to blog for weeks about movies, knitting, what I’m reading, but it seems January has slipped away from me without me blogging at all. I’ve been knitting more than I should, working on a test knit for the wonderful Andrea Black, aka Lacuna on Ravelry. I haven’t been reading nearly enough. I have been watching far too many trashy movies, but enjoying watching old classics from many years…

General Update and where I’ve been, or haven’t been for the past week

My apologies for the lack of posting. I meant to, but I’ve been unwell. Again. I’m not going to go into what it was that has kept me not being constructive for the last week, mainly because I don’t want to dwell on what I had for the third time this year. Instead, I’m trying to finish this chapter of my dissertation before my brain gives up on anything academic for the year, which it is liable to do considering…
